Application for the PAN Card

The application form for PAN (Form49A) can be obtained from any IT PAN Service Center (managed UTIITSL or TIN-Facilitation Centers(TIN-FCs), or PAN Centers, (managed NSDL e–Gov). This form can also be obtained from any nearby stationery vendor or download from the Income Tax Department website (www.incometaxindia.gov.in) / UTIITSL website (www.utiitsl.com)

The application must be signed by (i) the applicant or (ii) Karta in case of HUF or (iii) Director of a Company or (iv) Authorized Signatory in case of AOP, Body of Individuals, Local Authority and Artificial Juridical Person or (v) Partner in case of Firm/LLP or (vi) Trustee or (vii) Representative Assessee in case of Minor/deceased/idiot/lunatic/mentally retarded. All applications that are not signed in the provided space and in the manner required will be rejected.

The acknowledgment slip will be sent to applicants. This can be used for tracking the status of your application. It will take approximately 15 days for the application process to be completed. You will receive your copy of your PAN card at the address provided.

PAN – ONLINE APPLICATION

You can apply online for a fresh allotment. Internet can also be used to request corrections or changes in PAN data, or reprint PAN cards (for existing PANs).

Online application can be made either through the portal of NSDL ( https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/index.html) or portal of UTITSL (https://www.pan.utiitsl.com/PAN/index.jsp). Application for PAN requires payment of Rs. For Indian communication addresses, the charges for applying for PAN are Rs. 864 (Excluding Goods and Services Tax) for foreign communications address. The application fee can also be paid by credit/debit card or demand draft. After the payment and application have been accepted, the applicant must send all supporting documents via courier/post to NSDL/UTITSL. Only after receipt of all documents, the PAN application will be processed by NSDL/UTITSL.

Individual and HUF applicants can apply for a new PAN application. If the Address for Communication is chosen as Office, then proof of office address along with proof of residence address must be submitted to NSDL w.e.f. Applications received after the 1st of November 2009

According to RBI guidelines, online transactions must be completed with a PIN (Personal Identity Number). Before making online payment for PAN/TAN requests using credit card/debit card/net banking, applicants must obtain PIN from the Banks whose credit/debt cards/net banking are being used.
