Jawahar Navodaya Viyalaya Selection Test (JNVST 2021) is used to determine if a candidate is eligible for admission to JNVs. JNVs use English as the medium of instruction for Maths, Science and Social Science. English is then followed by Hindi. The Central Board of Secondary Education holds XII and XXII classes examinations for JNVs.

Education in schools is free, including board, lodging, uniform, and textbooks. A. How to apply to the Navodaya Entrance Exam 2020 or how to register online to take the JNV Selection Test 2021

i. Online submission has made it easier to submit your application for the JNV Selection Test. After the declaration of the results, selected candidates will need to register online through the NVS admission portal linked through www.navodaya.gov.in.

ii. All eligible candidates must fill out the online application and upload the certificate from the Head Master/Principal stating that the candidate is in class V. The certificate should include a photograph and signatures from both the parent/guardian and the candidate. Attachments should only be uploaded in jpg format with a size of between 10 and 100 kb.

iii. Candidates from NIOS should have a B’ certificate. The candidate should also be residing in the same area where he/she is applying for admission. iv. The online platform is free and open-source. Applications can be submitted from any device, including desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and mobile devices.

v. All JNVs will have a help desk to assist parents/candidates with uploading applications free of charge. Parents can also bring their candidate, photographs and documents to the JNV help desk.

B. .admit cardThe application portal

will make the information available starting 1 April 2021. Parents/candidates can download the documents free of charge before the conduct JNVST. Notice: The Navodaya Entrance Exam Admit Cards will be available on the application portal as per NVS’s decision.

C. The JNV Selection Test Result

All JNVs are expected to receive the results of JNV Selection Test 2021 by the end of April 2021. The concerned offices will display the result.

Jawahar Navodaya Viyalaya, the Principal, will inform the candidates via SMS to the registered mobile number, followed by a speed mail.

D. Selection and Admissions

1) The candidate will not be granted admission to the JNV if they are selected in the test. Each candidate selected for admission will need to present all certificates as required by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. The selection process is only provisional until admission. Candidates should apply for TC only from their parent school after verification of documents and confirmation by the respective JNV.

2) In the event of any dispute, the decision by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti will be final and binding for the candidates. Candidates (selected and not selected) do not receive the marks they have obtained in the test. 4) The result of the test is not available for re-evaluation or re-totaling marks.

Candidates and their guardians may also want to know that students from a JNV located within Hindi Speaking States may be required to migrate to another JNV in Non Hindi Speaking State for one academic year. This is to ensure students are promoted to Class IIX. Students who are not selected to migrate will be denied the right to continue their studies in JNV.

6) Candidates and their guardians should note that children who are selected based on the Test will only be admitted to the JNV in the district where they are currently studying in class V. The selected candidate will not be admitted to any other JNV. There will be no request to transfer students due to the medium of instruction in JNV, or shifting parents/guardians from one district/state/etc. No requests for shifting students due to the medium of instruction in the JNV concerned, or shifting parents/guardians to other district(s) / States(s), etc. will be considered.

7) All candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe will need to present a certificate from the Caste/Tribe when applying for admission. This certificate must be obtained from the competent authority prior to 30 March of the year in which you are applying for admission. It should then be presented to the Principal of JNV at the time of verification. Candidates applying for admission in 2021-22, for example, should obtain the certificate before 30 March 2021.

8) Candidates who apply for admission in Rural Category must produce a certificate stating that the school where they studied Classes III, IV, and V is in Rural Area.

9) Candidates from the Divyang (Orthopedically Handicapped/Hearing Impaired and Visually Handicapped) category will be required to present a valid medical certificate signed by the Chief Medical Officer of the District at the time they are admitted in the appropriate format.

10) Transgender candidates will need to submit a certificate from a competent authority as required by the State Govt. Regardless of their gender. This category is not subject to any reservation.

E. Who is eligible? Eligibility Criteria FOR ALL CANDIDATES

1. Only candidates who reside in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya are eligible to apply. If a new Vidyalaya is not yet established in a newly divided district, however, JNVST will still be open to candidates from the same district.

2. Candidats applying for admission must not be born after 01-05-2008 or 30-04-2012. This applies to all candidates, even those belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes. If there is doubt that a candidate is over-age, they can be referred to a Medical Board to confirm their age. The Medical Board’s decision is final.

3. The candidate who is appearing in the selection test must have been studying in Class V for the entire academic session 2020-2021 at a Government/Government aided school or in a ‘B’ certificate competency course of National Institute of Open Schooling within the district where he/she seeks admission. Recognizing a school is done when it is officially declared by the Government or any other authorized agency on its behalf.

Government should sponsor Schools that receive financial assistance under Sarva Shiksha Ahiyan. Or Govt. authorised agencies. Accreditation of NIOS should be granted to schools where students have received the ‘B” certificate from National Institute of Open Schooling. Candidats must complete Class-V during the session 2020-21. This condition will affect your admission to Class-VI in the session 2021-22.

4. For rural admission, a candidate must have passed classes III, IV, and V at a Govt. / Govt. Recognized school that receives government aid and spends one academic session per year in a rural school.

5. Candidates who have completed the ‘B’ competency course of National Institute of Open Schooling before 30 September can also apply for admission, provided that they are within the required age range. DEO/DIOS will verify the forms of such candidates.

A certificate issued by Tehsildar/District Magistratrate of the District will determine the rural status of a child attending National Institute of Open Schooling. This certificate must be signed by the child’s parents and indicate that they have been living in rural areas for at least three years. Rural quota is not available to students who study under the above scheme in urban areas.

6. 6. Candidate not promoted or admitted to Class V before September 30, 2009, is not eligible for application. 7. 2. No candidate can take the selection test twice.

At the time of admission, parents of children who pass the Selection Test must submit the following documents: Affidavit/Residence certificate in prescribed Performa, along with other documents required by the Vidyalaya.

2. Candidates applying for admission under the rural quota will need to provide proof that their child is enrolled in an Institute in a rural area.

CANDIDATES FOR RURAL USE:1. Candidates from rural areas will fill at least 75% of seats in a district, while those remaining will be filled from urban areas.

2. Candidats applying for rural quota admission must have completed full academic sessions at the school(s) recognized in rural areas. 3. Candidates who are studying at the National Institute of Open Schooling must produce their Rural Status Certificate issued by Tehsildar/District Magistrate.

FOR URBAN CANDIDATESUrban candidates will include any candidate who has attended a school in an urban area, even for one day in Class-III, IV or V. The 2011 Census or a subsequent Government Notification defines urban areas. All other areas will also be considered rural.

F. Reservation of Seatsa

Candidates from rural areas fill at least 75% of seats in a district, while those remaining are filled by candidates from the urban areas.

b) Children from Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes are eligible for seats in proportion to their district population. However, this reservation is not less than the national average (15% SC and 7.5% ST), but a maximum of 50% for each category (SC and ST). These reservations can be used interchangeably and are in addition to those made under open merit.

c) Girls fill up one third of all seats.
d) Reservations of 3% seats are available for disabled children (i.e. d) There is a provision for reservation of 3% seats for ** disabled children (i.e.

A condition known as “blindness” is when a person has either: (i) Complete absence of sight OR (ii) Visual acuity of not more than 6/60 (Snellen), in the better eye with correcting lense; or

(iii). Limitation of field of vision that extends to 20 degrees or more.
Hearing Impairment“Represents a loss of 60 decibels or greater in the better ear within the conversational frequency range.
Locomotor disability“refers to a disability of bones, joints, or muscles that results in substantial restriction of movement of the limbs.
Person with a disability“A person who is diagnosed with a disability at least 40% as determined by a medical authority.
