Emoji Meaning
A yellow face with open eyes and a skewed frown, as if scrunching its cheeks or chewing its lips. A look of feeling unsure.
While it can convey confusion or hesitation, it is also commonly used for slight sadness, disappointment, and frustration.
Samsung previously included raised eyebrows, as did Microsoft along with a rotated S-shaped mouth, à la the :S emoticon. Google’s design also previously included a furrowed brow.
Confused Face was approved as part of Unicode 6.1 in 2012 and added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015.
